Course Description

Let us show you how to move forward with clarity and confidence in your thesis or dissertation.

ScholarStudio's Dissertation Essentials workshop covers the six systems you need to have in place to have a painless, low-stress thesis or dissertation process.

The workshop covers both hard skills such managing large, complex documents and soft skills such as creating a support system, working well with your advisor, and cultivating a positive scholarly identity.

You are joined by hundreds of students in 26 countries who have taken the Dissertation Essentials workshop. Here's what some of them have said:

"The writing prompts reconnected me to my project. It really does help to remember the reasons that I am doing this work. I get very bogged down in deadlines and to-do lists. Revisiting my fascination illuminated a relevant direction of inquiry I'd missed. Thank you!"

"It has rebooted my confidence!"

"This helped me take time to reflect on the program I'm in, what I want to do with my life, and how my dissertation can help me get there."

"I think it's going to help me plan out my work and keep me motivated."

"The hardest part of this project has been managing my motivation. But I have been phrasing it as my own success or failure. Reframing it as motivation allows me to take more control of it and see what motivates me and what drains motivation.

"It has helped me set up a writing schedule and get me started."

"I feel more prepared and less uncertain about aspects of the Ph.D. that were not told / taught to me. There are unspoken expectations that plant feelings of inadequacy and shame that make them hard to address. I think knowing that there are different working styles, types of supervisors, etc. goes a long way in assuaging imposter syndrome."

"It helped me cut through the fog of doldrums and anxiety."

"Many of the writing techniques were new to me and I'm excited about trying them out."
